The Society maintains a collection of manuscripts, printed materials, photographs and maps relating to the history of the area.

The collection includes:
4,000 files on people, places, and subjects
16,000 photographs and portraits
indexes of land grants
electoral rolls
personal diaries
memorabilia
indexed obituaries and funeral notices
birth, death and marriage indexes
NSW Government Gazettes from 1878 to 1900
family histories
maps
a large library

Indexing
This collection is being indexed to allow faster retrieval of desired information. Such is the size of the collection that indexing is a never-ending task. A number of indexes are being made available on this web site. Check out the Indexes page.

Use of the Collection
The research centre is open to members of the Society, the general public, and to researchers. Written research requests are also accepted and are completed by volunteer researchers. A fee of $25.00 is imposed for each topic researched. To request research on your behalf, simply print out and complete the Research Request Form and forward to the Research Centre at the address provided with payment.
There is now an email address for requests and the form can be sent to this address as an attachment.

Results of requests, prepared by volunteers, can take six to eight weeks

Adults Personal Research: $15 per day

High School students (Years 10-12) : $5
High School students (Years 7- 9): $2
Children: 50c
Extended research by arrangement, minimum: $50
Requests for written research: $25


Photocopying Charges
30c per A4 sheet
$1.00 per A3 sheet
$1.00 for photographs,
etc.

Scanning
Scan photograph and burn to disk:
$8.00 per photograph
Supply disk and sleeve:
$1.00 per photograph
Image enhancement an additional cost:
negotiated
Post and packing in CD mailer $3.00

Opening Hours
Monday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Temporarly closed on Wednesdays. No entry for research after 3.30 pm. See News for holiday opening and closing times.

Travellers If you plan to travel from outside the immediate area to search the archives then ring in advance to make sure we will have adequate staff time to help you.
